SDG smart: business education in the 21st Century

For too long, economic development has come at the expense of people and the planet. As a global society, today we face challenges unprecedented in human history. With environmental pressures increasing, changing weather disrupting livelihoods and global population growth accelerating, we must change the status quo. We need to innovate new ways of doing business that advance economic, social and environmental progress in equal measure. Business education is uniquely positioned to transform business and bring economic development in line with the interests of society.

INSEAD, the Business School for the World, recently established the Hoffmann Global Institute for Business and Society to lead this transformation and respond to these challenges.

Established with a landmark gift from André Hoffmann MBA’90D and his wife Rosalie, the Hoffmann Institute brings together world-class INSEAD faculty, researchers, business leaders, alumni and a diverse student body to address our common global challenges. Through new knowledge, innovative learning and engagement opportunities the Institute is equipping leaders with tools needed to deliver prosperity and positive social and environmental impact.

To tell the holistic story of the Institute, this video features interviews with André Hoffmann, Chairman of the Hoffmann Institute Advisory Board; Ilian Mihov, Dean of INSEAD Dean; Katell Le Goulven, Hoffmann Institute Executive Director and a host of voices from INSEAD faculty, alumni and students.

To showcase the impact of the Institute, the film features INSEAD faculty thought-leadership, hands-on work by students at healthcare clinics in South Africa, transformative action by alumni and the event where it all started, the 2018 Force for Good Conference. These stories show how INSEAD is looking to the UN Sustainable Development Goals to develop responsible leaders who transform business and society.

Business leaders and the schools that educate them have a crucial role in shaping the conversation and enabling action around sustainable development. INSEAD invites you to join us on this journey and learn how we promote business as a force for good.
